Bringing Schnitzel Back – Eva Schnitzelhaus

The time has come for the return of the schnitzel to this little city.

Located in Chinatown at 509 Fisgard Street is the newly opened Eva Schnitzelhaus that aims to bring the schnitzel back to Victoria.

Just as the winter has set in and we all need to cozy up with family and friends, you can now gather in this alpine themed spot with a German and Swiss style menu inspired by the classics of Bavarian cuisine.

Inside you’ll find a gallery of scenes from European life, images of Bavarian mountaintops and the cities in Germany & Switzerland. There is a set of vintage skis behind the bar that adds to the alpine chalet vibes. The whole room has a warm and inviting atmosphere.

While Schnitzel is the main feature on the menu, there’s lots of delicious small plates, like pretzels with mustard, cave aged cheese and crackers, pickles, currywurst and herring on rye. They have a happy hour at 4pm with small plates and then the main dinner menu kicks in at 5.

And for all the veggies and vegans out there, don’t despair, because they even have an eggplant schnitzel that does not disappoint.

We haven’t had this type of place in Victoria since the closing of the Rathskellar, so it’s a much needed spot to grab yourself a frothy stein or a refreshing Bavarian bevvy and settle in.

Prost!!
