Summer in the city with Singer Songwriter Dilly Cooner

We all know Victoria has a rich music scene, but this is especially true in the summertime. That’s when many young musicians get their chance to perform in front of a live audience at markets and events around town.

Meet Dilly, a young up and coming singer who is passionate about music and making a difference in women’s health & mental health with her joyful outlook, volunteerism and sweet songs.

She’s been playing her guitar and writing songs since she was 13 and now is hoping to get into medical school and focus her studies on women’s health at UVic. This summer however, she’s spending her time playing around town before she hits the books in the fall.

When she’s not singing or studying, Dilly volunteers at several places, dedicating her time to the Foundry which offers health and wellness resources to kids 12-24. She also works with the Victoria Period Project that provides menstrual products to youth in need.

She says in a perfect world she would be able to blend all three things together: making music, working in women’s health and helping kids and others with mental health issues.

You can catch Dilly around town throughout the rest of the summer at the Moss Street Market on Saturdays, Bastion Square Market – August 20th from noon – 1pm, & on Sept 9th at University of Victoria as a part of the Band on the Roof Series on the SUB Rooftop.
